Debra is an engineer by training, an exited founder of her own consulting business, and for the past 15 years, she has been working with start-ups as a mentor, angel investor, and early-stage company director. Having grown her own business to exit in a trade sale, she knows that the startup journey is hard, and surrounding oneself with the right people to support them on that journey is critical to their success.
Why are you passionate about working with startup founders?
I believe that growing global tech companies from New Zealand is the best way to secure a positive future for our people and our country. I love the optimism and ambition of startup founders, keen to make a difference in the world.
What experience do you have working with startup founders?
Fifteen years of investing in very early stage companies, director and board chair roles on a wide range of startups, and ongoing mentoring of founders, both in the companies I work with, and more widely in the overall innovation sector.
