In 2009, I became a start up myself, jumping from a 'safe' partner position in an IP firm to launching my own Intellectual Property (IP) practice CreateIP. I wanted to work with innovative people to add value to what they were doing and to provide a personal approach to IP advice with more transparency on costs and deliverables. We are a slightly bigger team now but still boutique and focussed on smaller starts and ventures hence the motto guiding from seed to success.
Why are you passionate about working with startup founders?
Start up founders are interesting people that think differently and see solutions to problem hence make great creators and generators of IP. Founders have their hands full so I like being able to help with some of the critical thinking when it comes to IP and then implement a plan that helps the founder grow value.
What experience do you have working with startup founders?
Besides being a founder myself, I have spent 25 years working with many founders in a wide variety of fields of technology usually meeting founders when their ideas are a dream and then following the path from initial protection, to wider commercialisation through to exits. Being a partner in a boutique firm means I have this experience first hand every day.
