Since 2012, Sivarand has worked in the AI/ML space and has observed this field evolve through at least two hype cycles. Sivarand has been involved in the entire product and development lifecycle of AI projects, from conceiving and validating ideas with customers, conducting ML research, building ML models, engineering data pipelines, scaling ML algorithms, deploying ML models and data pipelines in production, maintenance, managing model-data-drift or continuous model improvement/training, and constructing explainable models.
Sivarand is pleased to share learnings and ideas with startups that are seeking answers to two key questions:
- Is the problem worth solving, and is AI the appropriate tool to address it?
- If AI is the right tool, how should one proceed in transitioning a model that performs well in a research setting to operate in a production environment?
Why are you passionate about working with startup founders?
At the core of it, I am passionate about solving open problems with no right answer. Startups are a great space for many innovative ideas with multiple problems to solve. For founders, at some level, it is a question of optimization i.e. given the constraints around time, funding etc. What decisions can be taken to make progress? These are open problems with no right answers. Startups also fuel innovation.
What experience do you have working with startup founders?
I have worked as an AI advisor at a startup from the time of their founding and they have now hired me full-time. I have also had a few conversations with founders at Partly and Komodo
