Coffee & Jam is Christchurch’s longest running weekly meet up for entrepreneurial-minded people. It’s a great place to see ordinary people doing extraordinary things, be inspired, network, and share in an innovative space.
This week’s speakers are:
1. Tegan Wadsworth and Jomar Mallare – Share a Table
Tegan Wadworth, Environment Canterbury, part of the Share a Table Team. Through participating in Smart Seeds, a design led innovation challenge, Tegan along with her team developed the Share a Table idea to help people connect, socialise and save over a meal. Share a Table aims to provide part of the solution for where people are experiencing feelings or moments of loneliness or disconnection. Tegan and her team will be talking about the Share a Table concept, who it is for and what is trying to be achieved.
Jomar Mallare, an IT consultant specializing in Microsoft products. He moved to New Zealand 4 years ago from the Philippines and now he is actively helping new migrants settle in the country by joining and helping different migrant groups. He met 4 young professionals through SmartSeeds, an innovation program, and they aim to resolve one of Christchurch’s current problem – Connecting Communities. He will talk about their journey and their idea on how to combat isolation and loneliness in Christchurch.
- Anthony Butler – MARS Bioimaging
Professor Anthony Butler is a radiologist with an interest in developing new imaging technologies. In 2007 he was one of the founder of MARS Bioimaging Ltd, a company formed to commercialise spectral imaging technology. He remains on the board and is the Chief Medical Officer. Anthony has more than 150 scientific publication. He has won more than 10 awards for his research including awards from the Royal Society of NZ and the Royal Australian College of Radiologists. He is the lead investigator on over $12m of NZ government research grants, and co-investigator on more than $30m of other grants.
