Sakthi Priya Balaji Ranganathan

Sakthi is the Design Technologist and founder of JIX Reality - an Immersive-Tech startup that creates virtual, augmented and mixed reality experiences that can augment your marketing, delight your customers, educate your visitors, or guide the differently-abled.

Sakthi was the regional winner of last year's NZ Space Challenge where he worked alongside Orbica to deliver a navigation solution that could guide Antarctic explorers safely across the ice and he represented the first Christchurch team in MAHUKI, world's first culture-Tech accelerator Programme by Te Papa, National Museum of New Zealand.His early funneled access to digital technology and ambitious spirit to participate in science exhibitions and symposium competitions since his adolescent days propelled him to participate in several national and global hackathons during adulthood. Come and listen to him talk about his journey in startup life, accelerators and everything in between.     

Steve Wait

Chief Executive Officer at The Business Centre Steve leads a cracking team of dedicated business advisers to create bespoke business education and business acceleration programs focused on innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialisation.
Steve has successful business experience in strategy articulation and market execution and has a passion for driving new ideas, leading to business creation in regional Australia. 
He has owned and operated a number of start-up businesses and his combined experience as a leader in the private and public sector means he cannot only oversee the operations of The Business Centre but he also makes a vital contribution to some of the most diverse and innovative projects including Start House, a New South Wales wide accelerator enabling regional entrepreneurs to accelerate their startups.


James Carr

James Carr is currently the ‘Business Manager’ at the University of Canterbury Centre for Entrepreneurship – a role that involves a little bit of everything from coaching and mentoring student founders to facilitating workshops and running competitions. Over the last decade he has worked with a startup English language services firm in Budapest, studied experimental condensed matter physics in Montreal, developed integrated health, safety and quality management systems for a young engineering design company in Christchurch, and took a year to explore Eastern Europe out of the back of a Mini.
