High Growth Startups

Want to grow your startup?

Regardless of where you are in your journey, Ministry of Awesome is here to make sure you get the right help whatever your stage. With a range of sector-specific programs and initiatives available, alongside a host of networking and capability development sessions and events, we're certain to have something for you!

Startup Activation Sessions

We are always keen to hear from startups who have growth potential and big ambitions but need a helping hand. Every month, we host a Startup Activation Session which is basically 'office hours' for very early stage startups. These sessions are hosted by Jeffrey, our Head of Startups, and a revolving panel of startup leaders ready to triage and support your startup's launch.

Startup Incubation at Te Ōhaka

Te Ōhaka - Centre for Growth & Innovation is the engine room for high growth early stage startups in Christchurch powered by Ministry of Awesome, ChristchurchNZ, and Ara Institute of Canterbury. The startup incubation programme at Te Ōhaka has already shown rapid early success with the 20+ startups in the programme raising just over $5m and tripling FTE's since May 2019. Entry into the programme is selective with rolling entries throughout the year.

Events & Training

MoA hosts multiple training, networking, and innovation events every year to support your pathway to entrepreneurial success. Whether you're an early stage entrepreneur, a startup founder, or a veteran entrepreneur - you'll find inspiration, education, and connection within the Ministry of Awesome community. From the monthly lunch fixture, Coffee & Jam, to Startup Breakfast Club, through to AMA's, Fireside Chats, and Startup Courses, we've got it all.

Startup challenges and programmes

In close partnership with ChristchurchNZ - our economic development agency - we provide an early stage engine that supports the city's growth ambitions around the four Christchurch Supernodes - Future transport & aerospace; Future food & fibre; and MedTech/Healthtech all underpinned by HiTech. We regularly run challenges, hackathons, and workshops that drive innovation around these Christchurch Supernodes. We also work with a number of other local, regional, and national organisations to drive innovation activity focusing on solution finding for specific sector issues.
