Electrify Aotearoa women founders conference headed to AKL in 2023

Ministry of Awesome, a force for high-growth founders, startups, and innovators in New Zealand has announced the return of Electrify Aotearoa, the women founders conference for the NZ startup ecosystem. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 30 March in the Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland CBD. It is expected to have more than 500 women entrepreneurs, founders, and startup ecosystem leaders in attendance.

Electrify Aotearoa 2023 is the second annual all-day national conference hosted by Ministry of Awesome, bringing together Aotearoa’s leading women founders, aspiring entrepreneurs, and early-stage women-led startups for a day of inspiration, skill-building, and connection.

“Last year’s inaugural event in Ōtautahi Christchurch sent an electric shock through the startup community and inspired so many wahine to accelerate their world-changing businesses,” said Marian Johnson, CEO of Ministry of Awesome and programme chairperson of Electrify Aotearoa.”We’re excited to keep the momentum going and bring the event to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. As a national celebration of women founders, it’s our intention is to move this impactful experience from city to city each year to inspire as many women as possible.

Globally, women only represent one in every four startup founders, despite research showing women-led startups are more capital-efficient, achieve 35% higher return on investment, and, when venture-backed, bring in 12% higher revenue than male-owned tech companies. Electrify Aotearoa provides a mix of keynote sessions, masterclasses, and networking events intended to build strong connections between women founders. The all-day event will showcase women founders at different stages of their journey with tales of courage, vulnerability, and success.

The event is being backed by some of New Zealand’s most important organisations for the startup and innovation ecosystem, including AWS, Callaghan Innovation, New Zealand Growth Capital Partners, Auckland Event Fund, and numerous venture capital funds.
